The name of this prayer comes from the first line of the original Sanskrit version. In some traditions this prayer is termed Shanti Paath, which means Prayer for Peace. We do not use that name here because there are several prayers for peace. We reserve the name Prayer for Peace for the well known prayer, Om Shanti Shanti Om.

May there be Peace in Heaven is known in Sanskrit by its first line, ॐ द्यौः शान्तिरन्तरिक्षं शान्तिः
